Beat The Summer Heat
If your sunroom is feeling a little too warm there are many affordable options to create a space that is comfortable and relaxing during those hot summer days.
Open your windows
One simple way to keep your sunroom cool is to open the windows. Letting the air flow will help to reduce the temperature and bring in some fresh air. If your sunroom does not have any windows, consider replacing a panel with some sliding windows. Placing windows higher up, closer to the roof, will help the hot air escape and draw in some cooler air at the same time.
Use sun-control window films
Sun-control window films are a simple way to create a cooler sunroom. They’ll reflect and absorb the sun’s energy, effectively blocking heat and UV radiation. They are easy to install and protect your furniture from long-term sun damage.
Install some energy-efficient blinds
We recommend Talius Habitat Screens. These customizable blinds are fully automatic and maintain your view even when completely closed. Habitat Screens are installed on the outside of windows so that they can stop the sun’s heat and glare before it reaches the glass. Unlike interior window treatments that offer only shade and privacy, Habitat Screens™ are a proactive defense against solar heat gain as well.
Add a ceiling fan
Turning on a ceiling fan is an inexpensive and effective way to get air moving in your sunroom. It is best used in conjunction with an open window. The fresh air will be circulated around the room while the hot air gets pushed outside.
Install a ductless mini-split, window-unit or portable A/C
Adding a window unit or portable A/C will allow you to set the ideal temperature in your sunroom. Having a separate A/C in the sunroom has the added advantage of keeping the sunroom’s cooling system separate from that of the home.
